RIICCM202E – Identify, locate and protect underground services allows the effective identification, location and protection of underground services, which is essential before any civil works or excavation is undertaken. Contact with and damage to underground services is a danger for workers and costly for the company.

Plan reading, understanding your Duty of Care Obligations to the asset owner, AS5488 and the correct use of Locating equipment are the key elements of this course.

Participants on this course will use the BYD Australia system and electromagnetic locators to identify and locate different underground services using a range of frequencies and different connection methods. Rodders and Sondes, which are inserted down a pipe or conduit will also be used for locating. Available methods for protecting underground services are also covered in the course. The course, RIICCM202E is the initial first step all “budding” locators should take.
